On this episode I chat with Gina from Cloud 9 Fabrics about all things organic fabrics. I wanted to know more about the process of having an all organic fabric company with amazing fabric designers. I have enjoyed working with Cloud 9 Fabrics for several years making samples for their Quilt Market booths. I love their fabrics because the quality is superb with every little detail thought about like the colors, the feel, the designs, and it’s organic! It just doesn’t get better than this. Gina talks about how Cloud 9 Fabrics started, their process of sourcing the fabrics, and she even teases that they have something new that is amazing. I love getting to know more about the sewing and fabric industry. I really think you will enjoy this chat as much as I did. (more…)
Rae from Made by Rae has to be one of my favorite bloggers. I have followed her for so long and recently had the chance to chat with her on the Modern Sewciety Podcast, episode 024. It was kind of a geeky moment for me because I had never actually chatted with her but felt like we were besties. You do that too with people who you know online but not in real life too right? Yep. Good now I feel normal. lol.
Rae and I have kids that are similar in age and I started following her when my oldest was born which was about the time she started blogging. I have watched her blogging journey and it has been so much fun. She has some awesome content on her blog so do take a chance to go and look around. She has tutorials, series, patterns, and all kinds of great things.
I have my material and patterns ready to make a washi dress and a Josephine top and maybe dress too. I think they will be my go to looks for this summer. I like something I feel is timeless but also made for me which is what you get when you sew your own clothes. I am thinking I might make the washi in some knit fabric from Girl Charlee. I think that would be so me.
But if you like to sew for your kids her Geranium dress is wildly popular as is her flashback tee. I have seen so many cool variations of all of Rae’s patterns that you just can’t go wrong sewing them up. If you need some inspiration just look on flickr and instagram. I know you won’t be disappointed.
Rae also has fabric lines with Cloud 9 fabrics. Her first was fanfare (there will soon be a rerelease of this line in new color ways) and her latest, Lotus Pond. I really have fallen in love with everything about Lotus Pond. I love the colors, the prints, and how many different projects you could use this line for. Hello awesome kids projects, quilts, and I think this would even make some great adult wear too. I just love Rae’s eye for colors and whimsy. I can’t wait to see what everyone makes with Lotus Pond. I know it will be great.
I hope you take some time to check out Made By Rae and leave her some comment love too.
