Hey guys. Meet Maggie. Maggie is the owner and creator of Caroline-Made and Gussy Sews. Maggie is well known for her ruffled pouches and bags under the name Gussy Sews. She recently started making bags and pouches of a different style at Caroline-Made. They are both awesome and I so want you to get to know her a little more.
You can find all things Maggie at her new site called Maggie Whitley Designs. She needed a place to have everything she does in one place so she created one site with links to everything she has going on. She is a busy handmade business owner, wife, and mom to baby Maxwell. We talked a little about her trip to Tanzania with Compassion International on the podcast and when she returned she not long after got pregnant with little Maxwell. Such a touching story all the way around. She has some great posts up about her trip if you would like to check that out.
Maggie and I chatted about how Caroline-Made came to be on the podcast and it was interesting to learn she needed something different after being a mom. Her style and needs changed and she wasn’t sure if those products would fit well with Gussy Sews so she decided to branch out and create Caroline-Made. Caroline-Made carries the Everyday bag with loads of pockets, pencil pouch, and the basic pouch all with metal zippers and leather embellishments. Pretty accessories for the Modern, Sophisticated gal.
I am really loving that combo of bags up there. I think they are all fantastic. I am crushing on orange lately so the everyday bag really has my heart.
She still has Gussy Sews but it is now in a monthly club. How does that work you ask? Well below is what you will find on the Gussy Sews Club page.
Our 2-month mailbox subscription of handmade Gussy product is $50 (includes domestic shipping; International shipping is an additional $20 and will be invoiced separately).
With this particular gift box two of the following Gussy Sews items will be included: a square zip pouch, a medium zip, a large zip, a wristlet or a wallet
The Gussy Club offers unique, exclusive products delivered to your mailbox once a month for the duration of your membership. Each Round consists of two months of varying product. We’ve also priced each Round so our members receive a generous discount.
A surprise in the mail + a deal = The Gussy Club, yeow!
Pretty cool, huh? I think this would also make a great gift for someone.
Maggie has a great series on her blog as well called handmade business in 31 days. If you are looking to start your own business, want to improve your business, or just learn more about having a handmade business check out her posts. I think she has some valuable information. She details a lot of things that make her business successful, how to price your items, how to set up different things like email and blog posts, photography, and so much more.
We chatted on the podcast about her post about going to the beach…. and there was an abandoned boat. I mean how cool is that?!!?! I had to make sure to link to that post for you guys so you could see it for yourself.
And if you still have some questions for Maggie she has a very extensive advice column. I love this because it really is awesome to read through and get some very valuable information.
