MS episode 168: Micah Bremner of Unhurried Steps. Quilter, handmade wardrobe maker, knitter

MS episode 168: Micah Bremner of Unhurried Steps. Quilter, handmade wardrobe maker, knitter

It is such a privilege to talk to the creatives in this industry. I find that the more people I talk to the more I am inspired to see the process of being creative in new ways. I have these rules in my head for being creative and I am not sure why they are there and where they came from. I think as adults we really put rules too high on the priority list, especially as creatives. My guest today is Micah from Unhurried Steps and let me tell you this lady makes me think about being creative in a different way. She openly writes about her creative projects and processes on her blog and posts on instagram in such an insightful way. Her writing always makes me think about the things I can do to make this gift of mine serve me well. I am so excited to share this chat with you today because I hope you are inspired and have some awesome takeaways from it. The podcast for me has always been to share the stories of other creatives in hopes to inspire you, my listeners. Click on the link to listen or listen via iTunes, Stitchr, or your podcast player.

MS episode 166 – Andrea Tsang Jackson from 3rd Story Quilts on her latest project #oursongquilt

MS episode 166 – Andrea Tsang Jackson from 3rd Story Quilts on her latest project #oursongquilt

Our Song, Your Reflection is a collaboration between Andrea and award-winning singer-songwriter Meaghan Smith. In tandem, Andrea has created a quilt design and Meaghan has created a song that speaks about the importance of community and the human connections that we make. The song does not speak of quilting specifically but there are references and it reflects the quilt design.
The project is structured as an IndieGoGo campaign so that people can preorder the pattern and/or fabric kit, get limited-edition project swag, and other fun perks. But most importantly, the campaign gives people the opportunity to submit a photo of one of their quilts or of their quilting community to be included in the final music video.

MS episode 167: Stacie Bloomfield of Gingiber, Moda Fabric Designer, and Creative Entrepreneurs

MS episode 167: Stacie Bloomfield of Gingiber, Moda Fabric Designer, and Creative Entrepreneurs

Stacie Bloomfield is a creative I have been following for a while now but I wanted to ask her all of the creative business questions swirling in my head so I asked her on the podcast for a chat. Stacie is creator and owner of the Gingiber brand, designer for Moda Fabrics, and has wear many hats in her creative business. She shares so much about her home and business life on her instagram stories which makes her so approachable to me. She really opens up about her creative life and how turning her passion into a business is both rewarding and challenging. Stacie also talks about her licensing deal with Moda Fabrics and the different fabric lines she has been working on. I thought it was so interesting to hear that what she sends in to clients is often only a stepping stone for a product because it goes through so much editing to get to the final product. I loved this chat and I know we could have chatted forever. Stacie is such a sweet and honest person to share her business story with me. This is a much listen for sure.
